This study aims to understand the experiences of Black romantic relationships in a racialized context.

Chelsea’s role:

  • Assisted with recruitment and data collection 

Aims to amplify the strengths of Champaign County through collating and disseminating relevant resources. 

Chelsea’s Role: 

  • Collated resources relevant to Black Communities 
  • Developed coding protocol 
  • Managed undergraduate research assistants 
  • Attended weekly oral history training sessions
  • Assisted in the development of a  “Green Book” for Champaign County

The ASPIRE program aimed to facilitate Black youth’s exploration of their strengths and resilience, foster socio-cultural connectedness, and increase their life possibilities. The ASPIRE program incorporated storytelling activities (e.g., vision-boarding, identity wheel) that bolstered youth educational aspirations and a sense of belonging into the curricula of an existing youth program in the Champaign-Urbana area. 

Chelsea’s Role: 

  • Assisted with the planning and implementation of the second iteration of the program
  • Qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis  
  • Conducted Focus Groups 

The Illinois Farmer’s project aimed to identify how Illinois farmers were dealing with and managing stress. The ultimate goal was to identify effective ways to facilitate mental health services to the farming community.

Chelsea’s Role:

  • Data quality assurance for transcripts transcribed through AI
  • Analyzed interview data and developed themes represented in the findings
